Coast-To-Coast Layout Design is a consulting firm with offices located in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon and in Hampton, New Hampshire specializing in full-custom, transistor-level integrated circuit layout design. The company consists of a small group of Layout Design professionals who are working with leading-edge technologies to produce layout for high-speed microprocessors for a preeminent Silicon Valley manufacturer. The management at Coast-To-Coast Layout Design has an extensive background in development of high-caliber layout professionals. In addition to layout creation, there will be a strong emphasis on the development of software programs and training materials to increase overall design productivity.

Responsibilities
A layout designer at Coast-To-Coast Layout Design must have experience with full-custom IC Layout Design. They must be a strong team player and have the mentality of an owner of the company. The ideal candidate should have good communication skills, and be willing to train clients and other employees as they become more proficient in specialized aspects of layout design. An employee of Coast-To-Coast Layout Design may need to travel to client sites, and must be capable of working independently at our office in Oregon. In addition, our company is responsible for helping to develop an expert system for layout creation through the customization of our clients’ chosen layout tools. Each employee will contribute to the creation of the methodology by writing simple scripts, debugging existing scripts, testing methodologies, or proposing enhancements aimed at increasing overall productivity.
Skills/Education
Coast-To-Coast Layout Design has openings for individuals with two or more years of experience in the layout design field. A two-year Electrical Engineering or CAD degree is a plus. The candidate is expected to understand their current layout system to a level that is equivalent to their years of experience. A specific knowledge of any particular layout tool is not required.
We are seeking individuals with three or more years of experience in high-speed microprocessor layout design. Qualified individuals should possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Programming knowledge is required in one or more of the commercially available IC layout software tools. Perl programming and/or LINUX/UNIX experience is a plus.
